Happy Earth Day, RokFans!
Since it’s founding in 1970, International Mother Earth Day has helped raise global consciousness about the importance of taking care of the environment. Today, Earth day is the world’s largest civic observance with more than 1 billion participants worldwide. Here at Rokform, we strongly believe that it is our duty to do our part in helping mother nature, not only on earth day, but all year round. It is our hope that with the help of these easy ideas, we can assist our customers in spreading some good old fashioned mother nature love (while using their favorite Rokform iPhone and Samsung Cases and Accessories, of course).

Go Vegetarian Once a Week:
Did you know that adjusting your diet to having one less meat-based meal a week can actually really help the planet? Think about this: it takes 2,500 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef, and for each hamburger that originated from animals raised on rainforest land, approximately 55 sq ft of forest have been destroyed. Also, it has been estimated that livestock production is responsible for anywhere from 14.5-51% of global greenhouse gas emissions. Yikes! According to the Environmental Defense Fund in New York City, if every American had a meatless day once a week, it would have the same impact as taking 8 million cars off the road. (And just think of all the lives you’ll be saving.)

Learn to practice energy conservation.
Unplug your Electronics when you’re not using them:
The U.S. houses 5% of the world’s population, but uses 23% of the world’s energy. Simply turning off your appliances when you aren’t using them may not be enough though. Make sure to unplug all of your electronics when you are not using them. Think of it this way, the less energy you use, the less fossil fuel usage and therefore less pollution into our earth. (And saving some cash doesn’t hurt either!)
Let Rokform help you conserve energy: sync your data quick and efficiently with our fast Rokform Lightning cable. Or use it to charge your phone, just make sure that you don’t forget to unplug your cable as soon as your phone hits 100%.

Plant a Tree:
In 2012, Rokform announced a partnership with American Forests supporting the American Forests Global ReLeaf program. Since then, we have planted over 50,000 trees in areas of crucial need. So essentially, by supporting Rokform, you are automatically helping the environment. Wasn’t that easy?
Here are some facts about the importance of preserving our Forest’s and planting trees:
- A single tree can absorb 10 pounds of air pollutants a year, and produce nearly 260 pounds of oxygen- enough to support two people.
- Over the course its life, a single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide.
- Forests are the largest forms of carbon storage, or sinks, in the United States. Currently, plants absorb and store about 15 percent of the United States’ total carbon dioxide emissions from the transportation and energy sectors.
- One mature tree absorbs CO2 at the rate of 48 pounds per year.
- Over a year, an acre of forest can consume the amount of CO2 created by driving a car 26,000 miles, about twice the annual mileage for an average driver.
- Deforestation accounts for up to 15 percent of global emissions of heat-trapping gases.
Like we do here at Rokform HQ!
Do you have an old cell phone that you need to get rid of? Consider recycling it. 130 million phones will be retired each year. If they go into landfills, the phones and their batteries can potentially introduce toxic substances into our environment. Most of the big wireless providers like AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, offer a recycle or trade in program, and some offer a gift card with each device your recycle. Click on the name of your wireless provider for more information on their recycling programs.
Reduce paper waste:
Start paying your bills on your Rokform protected device! It has been estimated that if all households in the U.S. paid their bills online and received electronic statements instead of paper, annually we would save 18.5 million trees, reduce pollution by 2.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, and 1.7 billion pounds of solid waste. Making this simple change could truly make a huge impact.
Next time you travel, consider using an e-ticket. Imagine the amount of paper we could save if everyone stopped using paper tickets? There are tons of ways to substitute your device for every day paper items that we tend to take for granted. For example, the newspaper industry in the USA, each year, consumes 95 million trees. Switching over to reading the newspaper on your apple or samsung rokform protected device, could potentially save a lot of trees! If you haven’t already, consider switching your old fashioned calendar over to your phone, give e-books a try, and always keep your notes in your phone instead of on notepaper.
